Suspect arrested in Mills Loaf 'N Jug shooting on Sunday

CASPER, Wyo. — A suspect who allegedly fired two shots through the front windows of the Mills Loaf ‘N Jug on Sunday night has been arrested, Mills Police Department officials confirmed to Oil City News on Wednesday.

Jarren Gaboldon, 25, was arrested after Mills police executed a search warrant at his home on Tuesday, Mills PD Cpl. Kate Acord said.

Gaboldon is presumed innocent until pleading or proven guilty in the following matter.

A weapons offense call came in around 11:35 p.m. from the gas station, located at 4603 W. Yellowstone Highway, on Sunday, Aug. 27, Cpl. Acord said.

Two bullet holes were located in the front windows. One was lodged in a cooler, while the other went through some signs and into another cooler.

One shot missed a customer by about 10 feet, Acord said.

The clerk told police that just before the incident, there had been an altercation with a customer. It started when the customer parked his white one-ton Ford truck across multiple parking spots in front of the store.

The clerk said the man left, then came back a few minutes later, but the clerk refused to serve him after the contentious exchange.

The clerk said the man angrily grabbed a handful of candy and left the store again.

About 10 minutes later, two shots came through the window while the clerk was serving another customer.

Their reaction to the shots is observable in the security footage, as is the white truck that had pulled into the parking lot at the same time the shots were fired, Acord said.

Acord said Gaboldon was quickly identified as a suspect after security camera stills were shared on social media.

Gaboldon is also charged with petty theft for allegedly grabbing the handful of candy; Acord said the grand theft charge listed in the arrest logs is an error.

Acord said police are still trying to identify the customer, who is both a victim and a witness to the crime.
